The Madison County Coroner says a pair of recent deaths were accidental. 42-year old Stacy L. Hoffner of Bethalto was pronounced dead at her residence on May 27th. In this case the coroner's office reports the victim died as a result of combined fentanyl and methadone toxicity. The investigation also revealed the victim to had diphenhyrdamine and morphine in her system at the time of death.
40-year old Cleophus Richardson of Wood River was pronounced dead at Alton Memorial Hospital on May 27th. In that case the coroner's office reports the victim died as a result of heroin toxicity with alcohol and marijuana compounds also present in the victim's blood stream at the time of death.
In another case, the coroner's office says 64-year old Joseph M. Welch of Godfrey died of natural causes. According to a report issued Friday, the victim suffered a cardiac event with sudden death behind the wheel of his vehicle on June 29th. Toxicology testing was negative and the accident was investigated by the Alton Police Department.
