The Alton School District and the Alton Education Association hope to have a new contract offer to vote on soon. The teachers’ union voted down the latest contract offer from the Alton School District last week. According to a union official, about 90% voted to reject the district’s offer.

Norman says bringing in a mediator is no guarantee of a deal. He says one time it helped them reach a deal, but another time both sides were ultimately able to come to an agreement without a mediator’s assistance even though one was involved in the process.
