Ground has been broken on a pair of new outbuildings at Godfrey's Monticello Plaza. Midwest Asset Group has bought the aging strip mall across the street from Lewis & Clark Community College in September of 2011. The owners have been making upgrades that in large part are out of the public eye, but more visible changes are now evident.
Godfrey Mayor Mike McCormick says they have been tearing up the asphalt on the front part of the property over the past week.
A Pizza World franchise is said to be one of the businesses coming to the plaza once the new buildings are finished. The owners of the plaza are being tight-lipped about what other stores may be looking at the sight.
