The field of candidates to replace Congressman Jerry Costello is a crowded one, with at least four Republicans and one Democrat having announced their bid for the office. One of the Republicans,
Belleville's ex-mayor Roger Cook, spent some time in the Riverbend Monday, getting to know some of his constituents. Cook is also a former police officer and homicide detective, as well as a small business owner. During a visit to Z-1570, he explains why he hopes to get the GOP nomination.
As for his priority, he says job creation and the economy are at the top of his list. Cook will be running against businessman and former Republican candidate for Lieutenant Governor Jason Plummer, former Costello challenger Teri Newman of Highland, and newcomer Theresa Kormos of O'Fallon.
