Lawmakers have been struggling to develop a concealed-gun law that balances the view that every law-abiding gun owner be allowed to carry a concealed weapon with the desire of police to limit the number of concealed permits issued, as well as the places where concealed guns could be carried. A Senate vote on a concealed carry bill could happen this week, with the June 9th deadline looming.

The Illinois Rifle Association is demanding legislators pass the broadest type measure possible, known as a "shall issue" law. It remains to be seen if any law will be passed. If legislators cannot agree on a compromise, the case will go back to the district court on June 9.
