The owner of local firearms businesses continue to be encouraged by the numbers he is seeing as the desire to get a concealed carry license is apparently growing.   Most say as soon as they can schedule a class, it usually fills up, and the process starts all over again.  Sixteen hours of training are required to obtain a license.

But concealed carry may not be for everyone, according to Alton Police Department Public Information Officer Emily Hejna.

People who want to carry guns in public can start applying for permits, but they won’t likely be issued until April.  That’s a couple weeks behind the originally scheduled March date.
