The financial records for your city, town, or county are now available online. Illinois Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka is launching “The Warehouse,” an online database of financial reports that her office collects from more than 5200 counties, municipalities, and special taxing districts in Illinois. "We have put all those records and other pertinent local government information on a database for taxpayer review,” Topinka said.

“So we’re essentially allowing taxpayers to scour ‘The Warehouse’ from wherever they are to seek whatever they want to learn.” You can search records by name, the unit of government, or type of report, as well as compare data between two different government bodies. Topinka says only reports from fiscal years 2011 and 2012 are available, as it was only last year that local governments were required to file financial reports electronically.
