Illinois 255 opened to Humbert Road a few weeks ago, and now the end is in sight, with the next leg to Montclaire Avenue slated to open just before Thanksgiving. The afternoon of November 21 will see traffic on the next stretch to Route 111, and in the spring, the entire project is scheduled to tie in with Route 67 north to Delhi.
IDOT Engineer Joe Gasaway says there is just a little work left to be done to open this leg of the project.
He says a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Village of Godfrey will take place at 10:00 that morning. The next leg of the project will tie in under the fly-over bridge that is currently open and taking traffic from Godfrey Road north to Delhi.
