While you may not be thinking about planting anything on a frigid day like today, preparations are underway in some corners of the city to make Alton a more beautiful place.  The Alton Beautification and Clean City Committee will be giving out flower bulbs on Saturday, January 25 at the Haskell House on Henry Street.

Committee Chairman and 2nd Ward Alderman Carolyn MacAfee says they recently received a substantial donation of spring flower bulbs from The Home Depot.

The bulbs will be available on a first come, first served basis on Saturday from 10am-noon.  She says while you don’t have to show proof of residency, she wants all who pick up bulbs to be from Alton.
