Godfrey recently became an Illinois “Cool City” and the committee set up to implement the initiatives recently did a walk through at several of the village’s buildings.  They were looking at lighting at Village Hall, the Street Department and Sewer Department buildings, and identified several areas in which to upgrade lighting.

Keener has previously stated that by becoming a Cool City and having the stats that are trackable at the ready, many communities have seen a variety of new grant opportunities open up.
