The state’s largest community college has been placed on probation for being out of compliance on several criteria. The Higher Learning Commission says the College of Dupage isn’t in compliance with their criteria including operating with integrity, and having effective leadership and collaborative processes.

HLC says other criteria have been met but there are concerns with the college’s commitment to the public good and autonomy of the governing board, among other concerns. An official with the college said they couldn’t directly address the sensitive matter and referred to a press release in which the college says the institution remains accredited and the probation does not affect COD students’ ability to get credits or transfer to another institution, however HLC says enrolled students should contact any institution they plan to attend in the future to confirm the institution's admission and transfer policies.
