“With ever-rising costs of higher education, College Illinois offers parents a great opportunity to plan ahead and make college more affordable for their kids,” said Eric Zarnikow, director of the Illinois Student Assistance Commission, which administers the program. Since inception in 1997, College Illinois has paid $400 million in benefits and helped tens of thousands of Illinois families make college more affordable. The program isn’t just limited to parents of an Illinois child. Grandparents and guardians can also participate.
