It will be later this month before traffic can move freely on College Avenue in front of Alton Middle School.  The city is doing a sewer separation project, and the current part of the project involves the portion that runs under College Avenue in front of the school.

Alton Public Works Director Bob Barnhart tells The Big Z they are looking at another week or two of detours, depending on the weather.

That is a project that involves funding from several sources and includes the resurfacing of the road, installing ADA compliant sidewalk and curb ramps.  He says there is also a plan to replace the sidewalk from Rock Spring Park to Holman.
