The head of a local youth organization says communication is the key when it comes to young people dealing with authority and with each other. Alton Boys and Girls Club Executive Director Al Womack says he’s spent time talking to kids at the club about recent violence involving police in Dallas, Baton Rouge and Minneapolis.

Womack says posting to social media is another area they cover, and how to be responsible when doing so. He also says the group talks to the boys about how to be men, and what it means to respect others and do the right thing in their families and in society. The Alton Boys and Girls Club serves more than 13-hundred youth each year in summertime and after-school programs.
