Environment Illinois, an environmental advocacy group, says the President is finally keeping his promise when it comes to climate initiative. Ember (cq) McCoy, a field associate for the group, says “the (President’s) plan will set limits on carbon pollution from new and existing power plants, which are the largest single source of carbon pollution fueling global warming.”

Illinois relies on its coal plants for revenue and jobs. According to McCoy, Illinois is the fifth largest polluter and producer of coal. But she says the president’s plan will hopefully add jobs.  "Other sources of natural gas and nuclear power are what the administration announced today. Those aren’t necessarily our favorite cause we’re more of a fan of renewable sources. But as the transition comes the hope is that more jobs and the economy will continue to grow by pushing different energy sources,” McCoy said.
