The City of Alton recently sent out requests of interest and qualifications to about twenty regional developers and operators who might have a desire to bring a hotel to the riverfront, and has received a response from five groups. The hotel site would be on city owned property that was the former Great Central Lumber Company at the foot of Henry Street.
Alton Mayor Tom Hoechst says to receive five responses in this economy is good, and is looking forward to the next step in the process:
Hoechst says there is no time table to complete the review and set up meetings, but believes it will take a few weeks.
Developers who presented their interest and qualifications to the City are:
Acquest Realty Advisors, Inc. and its subsidiary company
JB Real Estate Development Company LLC and Orion Construction
Horinko Group, Lighthouse Architects, STW Design & Mike Hughes Architects
