Whether or not there's a future for the Citizen's Bank Building in East Alton may be known soon.  The round building on Berkshire Boulevard has been vacant for a number of years, but a plan to demolish it was put on hold earlier this year after a groundswell of support to save it.

In February, East Alton Mayor Joe Silkwood announced on The Big Z a plan to demolish the building and turn it into green space, but he says they are waiting on a report from an engineering and architect firm on what it would take to revive the building.

Silkwood says if nothing feasible is presented after an appropriate amount of time is offered, the village will be left with no choice but to tear it down.  The building was constructed in 1964.
