Earlier this year, Madison County embarked on the process of updating its hazard mitigation plan, and now it’s the municipality’s turn to adopt the plan. The county has dealt with a number of natural disasters over the years, including flooding and severe storms. Bethalto was among the towns to adopt the plan this week.

The village board also vacated a portion of Oak Street from Butcher Street to St. Mary’s Drive. Winslow says it is a small street with no houses. The Queen of Peace Catholic Church plans on buying the newly-vacated property to make way for a building expansion.
