Alton's Twelfth Street Presbyterian Church will be closing at the end of the year. The church celebrated its sesquicentenial on 2005, but a decision has been made to shut the doors by December 31. Pastor David Olson says the process of placing their members in other churches is in its final stages.
He says the desire is to finish strong, demonstrating to the community through their actions that their faith is still full of promise. The decision to close was based on a number of factors, including an aging membership, decreasing income, and the cost of maintenance and care. Olson will be a guest on Let's Talk Monday morning at 11am.
