The membership of the College Avenue Presbyterian Church in Alton has decided it wants to sell their building and look for something smaller.  A vote was taken this week, and now the wait is on for approval from the Presbytery, or regional governing body, for approval to sell.

The church pastor, Reverend Dale Jackson, tells The Big Z this is an economic decision.

Jackson says they will continue to have worship and Vacation Bible School at the church at the corner of College and Clawson Avenues for now.  He says the hope is to stay in the neighborhood if they are able to sell the building.
