Madison County residents can dispose of their live Christmas trees in the days ahead at several locations around the county. The Christmas tree recycling program has been around for many years, and is a way for the trees to be turned into mulch to be used by local parks and public works departments or in some cases made available for the public in the spring.
Drop off locations in the Riverbend include three in Alton: Milton Park at the south end of Aberdeen, Northside Park at 201 Rozier, and Salu Park on Washington Avenue. Bethalto residents should contact the public works department for curbside pickup. Godfrey residents can drop off trees at the Street Department at 6212 Godfrey Road. For those in Wood River, live Christmas trees can be dropped off at the city garage near the water tower at Illinois 143 and 14th Street, or for curbside pickup, call 259-2490.
Madison County residents are also reminded that all Christmas wrapping paper and boxes can be recycled curbside.
