The Public Safety Meeting at Godfrey Village Hall on Wednesday could be a heated affair, as a couple of residents in D'Adrian Subdivision have approached the village about shutting down a popular Christmas light display. The display has been a fixture in the neighborhood for a number of years, but at least two residents have apparently had enough of the extra traffic it brings to their street.
Godfrey Mayor Mike McCormick says the safety aspect of the added traffic was addressed by making the road one-way during the Christmas season.
He says he can understand the neighbor's frustration with the added traffic. The Public Safety Committee will meet at 5:30 Wednesday night, kicking off the evening's meetings. The Finance Committee, Township Board and finally Godfrey Village Board will all meet January 2 at Village Hall.
