Haynes says community groups and the Alton Fire Department play important roles in the event, which is part of the 12 nights celebration.

In Bethalto residents should contact the public works department for curbside pickup.  Godfrey residents can drop off trees at the Street Department at 6212 Godfrey Road.  For those in Wood River, live Christmas trees can be dropped off at the city garage near the water tower at Illinois 143 and 14th Street, or for curbside pickup, call 259-2490.

Madison County residents are also reminded that all Christmas wrapping paper and boxes can be recycled curbside.
