The annual Community Christmas campaign by the United Way has made today a little brighter for hundreds of children and families around the River Bend.  The drive for items and funding wrapped up on December 13, when more than 160 boxes were picked up from local businesses which served as drop off locations for several weeks.

A total of 14 local agencies benefited from the collection according to United Way Communications Associate Natasha Sakovich:

Students from Alton High and Marquette Catholic High School assisted other United Way volunteers in sorting the 20,000 items for pick up by the local agencies that benefited.
