The world's largest cinema conglomerate is being put together, and will have some influence in the River Bend. The "Hollywood Reporter" says in a deal valued at more than two and a half billion dollars, China's Dalian Wanda Group will acquire AMC Entertainment Holdings. AMC owns nearly 350 theaters, including theaters in East Alton and Edwardsville.

Beijing-based Wanda says it intends to invest up to half a billion dollars in AMC strategic and operating initiatives over the course of time. AMC is based in Kansas City, Missouri and has over 18-thousand employees. The "Hollywood Reporter" says it is not believed this transaction will negatively affect employment levels at AMC.
