An effort to donate sports and musical equipment that has expanded to seven children’s homes in three states this year is being celebrated Saturday night in Downtown Alton.  “Something Bigger Than Yourself” is the name of the concert and a new corporation – a move the head of the effort says was necessary due to the growth of what started out as a modest donation to the Catholic Children’s’ Home.

Jay Lipe organizes the event and raises money to buy sports and music equipment for the kids.  He says this concert was originally one of the main fundraisers.

Saturday’s concert is free to attend, but donations will be accepted.  The performers include Phatfinger, John Valley, Sometimes It’s Cloudy, Sweet Meat, Cottonmouth, Ancient Chinese Secret, and Dead Planet.
