Parents challenged to find a place for their mentally ill children met Illinois House members on a violence prevention task force. “If we cannot get help right now, (my son) will be the next Newtown shooter,”Champaign mother Stacey Cole said she told school leaders a week after the Newtown shooting. “All I got in return was, good luck, keep us posted.”

“Children are getting sicker,” said Northbrook lawyer Neal Takiff. “It's a comment I hear over and over again from the psychologists, psychiatrists, parents, and school districts that I work with.”
