As the summer swimming season gets underway, the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is warning parents about the dangers of drowning.  When tragedy occurs, acting DCFS Director George Sheldon says it’s often because a parent is distracted.

Last year in Illinois 24 children died of accidental drowning.  More than half of those cases occurred in pools and one child drowned in a large bucket.
