A handful of counterfeit bills were discovered in Alton following the Labor Day holiday weekend, so local police are asking business owners to keep an eye out for the fake money.  The bills were passed at downtown businesses, and Alton Police Chief Jason Simmons says in some cases, they crime could have been avoided with the use of counterfeit pens.

Simmons reminds counterfeiting is a federal offense, and he plans to contact the Secret Service as a part of this investigation.
