A Chicago area patient is receiving treatment for signs of meningitis. Health officials say the person received an injection of possibly contaminated steroid meds. The meds were designed to treat back pain but a Massachusetts company says they shipped a batch that may have been tainted. They've recalled about 17-thousand vials of the drug.
Doctors in Chicago are running tests to determine if the person's illness is directly linked to the tainted drug. Nearly 180 people have contracted meningitis after allegedly getting the shot. Fifteen have died. If confirmed, it would be the first case of the illness connected to the nationwide outbreak in Illinois.
