The charity aspect of Ameren's refrigertor and freezer recycling program has been a hit, but time is running out to get in on the money. The Ameren Illinois ActOnEnergy Refrigerator Recycling Program is doubling its donation to participating nonprofits when an electric customer recycles their old unit. And by turning in their old units, consumers are eligible for $50 at the time it is taken away.
But the program ends December 31. Ameren spokesperson Victora Busch says the refrigerators or freezers must be in working order.
Charities that would like to join the program should go to the e-mail provided at this story at AltonDailyNews.com and have their W-4 form and nonprofit documentation handy.
