One man is in custody and another man is being sought in the shooting death of 23-year-old Tyler Hoppe on December 7. Investigators believe 19-year-old Nigel Generally of Berkley, Missouri and 20-year-old Larry Belk (pictured) of St. Louis met Hoppe for the first time the night they allegedly killed the Alton man in an alley near his home in the 1200 block of Hampton Avenue.

Hoppe died of a single gunshot wound to the head. Each man has been charged with three counts of First Degree Murder and Attempted Armed Robbery. Alton Police Chief David Hayes says the reward is not in play, as good old-fashioned police work developed the leads.

Hayes comments

Generally was taken into custody this morning without incident. Belk is not in custody at this time. Both men have bonds of $1-million.
