Charges have been filed in a case of vandalism involving the destruction of lights at area railroad crossings. Investigators say three area men have been breaking the lights out of the lights at railroad crossings north of Brighton. All three are now facing felony Criminal Damage to Property charges in Macoupin County.
Charged is 19-year-old Myles Porter of the 1,300 block of Route 16 in Piasa, and 18-year-olds Eric Beyer of the 100 block of E. Plum in Brighton and Zachary Bachman of the 3,600 block of Glenn Drive in Alton. Macoupin County Sheriff Shawn Kahl says Porter is the one pictured in the surveillance photos that eventually led to the trio’s arrest. All three turned themselves in on Saturday. Kahl says federal charges are not expected.
