Three Alton men are being charged in a string of armed robberies in Alton and Godfrey over the past couple of months. A joint investigation between the Madison County Sheriff's Department and the Alton Police Department culminated with the arrests this week. It is believed the arrests of 16-year-old Jarrett A. Wright, 17-year-old Willie T. Brooks, and 24-year-old Soloman L Hubbard solves at least 5 armed robberies dating back to the middle of August.
The teenagers are being charged as adults, since a firearm was allegedly used in these crimes. Madison County Sheriff's Department Captain Mike Dixon tells The Big Z these charges cover crimes at the Casey's General Stores on Washington Avenue in Alton and on Godfrey Road in Godfrey, and the CVS and Walgreens stores in Upper Alton. He says the Alton Police Department was well into their investigation when the sheriff's department got involved.
