Alton Police have filed charges in a shooting that was reported Monday afternoon around 1:00 in the 1,000 block of Elliott. Demarlo A. Matlock (pictured) of the 2,300 block of Edmond Street in Alton, is charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and unlawful possession of weapons by a felon.
Bond has been set at $100,000, but Matlock is not yet in custody. According to the Madison County State's Attorney's office, Matlock shot 23-year-old Paul Perry of the 400 block of Vine in Alton following an argument. Matlock is on parole, and is also known in some circles as Clinton J.C. Buford. Perry suffered gunshot wounds to the upper body, but they are not considered life-threatening.
