A part of downtown Brighton may be demolished to make way for a second set of train tracks, according to the CEO of the Jersey County Business Association. The second set of tracks is supposed to be laid going through town as part of the high-speed rail upgrade. What that will do is require a hand full of businesses along the tracks to come down.
Alan Gilmore says when that happens, the mayor has expressed interest in establishing a new business district on the undeveloped land west of Route 267 / 111 that is in Jersey County.
He says the down side is that the town will lose many of its older buildings. The area being eyed for future development is also near Delhi Road, which is undergoing upgrades as well.
