Illinois workers are witnessing a spike in layoffs.  Some state businesses have been exhibiting an uptick in the number of layoff notices as required by law.  The WARN Act requires businesses to notify its employees of any mass layoffs 60-days in advance.

US Cellular is expected to shed 600 positions across Illinois while Caterpillar just announced it was firing eleven-percent of its workforce -- about 450 employees -- at its plant in Decatur.
