Roxanna Hollenstine, director of the treasurer’s unclaimed property division, says she shuffled around some employees which also helped. “If we took the opening of mail away from the review staff and reassigned it to just staff that weren’t trained in review, then we actually processed more claims out the door,” she explains. Hollenstine says web searches for unclaimed property during the first nine months of 2011 increased by 44 percent compared to 2010, while total inquiries increased by 153 percent.
