The Cardinals have announced a new, albeit scaled back plan for Ballpark Village. It calls for a retail and entertainment complex north of Busch Stadium, along with a Cardinals Hall of Fame and room for other development. The 100-million dollar plan unveiled Monday is decidedly less ambitious than previous plans, but officials say this version is fully-financed, and more likely to actually be completed.
The focus of the complex will be sports and entertainment, with several bars and restaurants planned for the space, although no names have been released beyond what the Cardinals have planned. Ballpark Village will also include an outdoor event area, where about 150 events will take place per year, even when the team is not in town. The Cardinals are joining forces with Cordish Corporation in developing the property.
