Anxiety and diabetes won’t be recommended as additions on the list of conditions which can be treated with medical marijuana. The Illinois Medical Cannabis Advisory Board voted Monday against their inclusion on the qualifying conditions list. Ben Rediger, chief executive of the medical marijuana advocacy group CBD Education Services, says doctors and public officials are ignoring what patients are telling them about the benefits of using cannabis.

“This has been proven safe and effective over thousands of years,” Rediger said, “and when I hear physicians tell us that there’s not enough research, they must not know how to use Google.”
The board did recommend adding to the list several other conditions, including post-traumatic stress disorder, irritable bowel syndrome, osteoarthritis, and migraines. Those recommendations will be passed onto the state’s public health department.
