It was a busy Saturday for firefighters in several local municipalities. Crews from Bethalto and Rosewood Heights were dispatched a box alarm for a car fire in a garage in the 500 block of Spencer Street in Bethalto at 5:40 a.m. Firefighters were able to contain most of the blaze to the garage and also rescued two dogs from the burning structure. 

Just before 11 a.m. crews from East Alton, Wood River, Alton, Roxana, Hartford, Rosewood Heights, and Olin Brass Fire Department responded to a 2nd-alarm fire at a home in the 100 block of Third Street in East Alton. Officials say the home was heavily damaged in the blaze but no injuries were reported.

The cause of both fires remain under investigation.
