Fans of a unique local dish will be heading to Brighton today for the annual Fall Fish and Burgoo Sale at 11am at Betsy Ann Park. Burgoo is a dish normally sold only at the Betsy Ann Homecoming in June, but this is the second opportunity since the homecoming to purchase the soup. The recipe is unknown to most, and guarded by the cooks who take pride in their creation.
If you aren't a fan of burgoo, you may enjoy the white fish. Both items will be on sale until supplies are exhausted. Next Saturday, October 19, is the annual Frighten Brighton Event at Schneider Park, according to Brighton Village Clerk Billie Laubscher.
She says there is a haunted house at 6pm and a costume contest at 8pm. The costume contest is for all ages. She says there will be food, games and activities booths from 4-9pm.
