A South Roxana man has been charged in connection with more than two-dozen burglaries in the village.  18 year old Edward W. Kraut, Junior, has been charged with five counts of burglary following an investigation by South Roxana Police that began just before Christmas.

Authorities say Kraut was taken into custody over the weekend in Taylorville after the charges were filed on Friday.  He is accused of taking items mostly from unlocked cars, sheds and garages the week of Christmas.  He has reportedly admitted to police that he was responsible for between 15 and 30 burglaries.  A search of his residence by police turned up a number of the stolen items that Kraut was apparently trying to sell over the Internet.  Kraut remains held in the Madison County Jail on a half million-dollar bond.
