Bethalto Mayor Steve Bryant believes the village is one step closer to securing the money needed to proceed with phase two of the Bethalto Sports Complex. That funding would come in the form of a $500,000 OSLAD grant. Bryant and two other representatives from the village traveled to Springfield on October 30th to present the planned expansion to a project selection panel.
Bryant says that phase two of the project focuses on moving all athletic events to a location that is safe for athletes and spectators.
Phase 2 of the sports complex includes the addition of six multipurpose ball diamonds, a soccer field, football field, spectator bleachers, rest rooms, concession stand, infrastructure, parking areas and green space.
