Get ready for some traffic jams if you use the Clark Bridge to get back and forth between Illinois and Missouri. The Illinois Department of Transportation is gearing up for lane closures on the Alton span beginning today (Monday, April 7), weather permitting. The closures are planned so that crews can perform bridge repairs.
This will include the re-wrapping of the cables, removal of grafitti, and some bridge-deck patching. John Scheibal, Supervising Field Engineer for IDOT, says significant delays are expected.

All lanes will be open westbound between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m., and eastbound lanes will be open between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. beginning April 7, and running until work is done around July 31.
