The search for a missing Godfrey man has ended in tragedy. 36 year old Charles "Chad" Roe was reported as missing on Thursday morning by his family after he did not return home Wednesday night. His body was found around noon today (Friday) along an east wall of the Alby Quarry, just a fraction of a mile away from St. Anthony's Hospital, where his truck was found Thursday.

Police from Madison County, Alton and even St. Louis took part in an extensive search through Thursday afternoon, and expanded the search Friday morning.  Madison County Sheriff's Department Captain Mike Dixon says he apparently had a fascination with heavy machinery.

Dixon comments

Roe was last seen leaving his home to go St. Mary's Church in Alton Wednesday night for an Ash Wednesday service. Foul play does not appear to be a factor in his death at this point. An autopsy is pending to determine the cause of death.
