Charges have been filed by Madison County State's Attorney Tom Gibbons involving the death of 45-year-old Roderick L. Taylor, of Collinsville.  His body was found in the trunk of a car that had been in an accident after a police chase last week.  Charged in his death are 31-year-old George T. Tillman of Belleville and 26-year-old Ashly S. Bonner of Granite City.

The investigation was led by officers with the Illinois State Police who determined the man had been murdered earlier that evening.  At about 7pm last Thursday a Brooklyn, IL Police Officer began a pursuit of a maroon Cadillac that fled after an attempted traffic stop on Rt. 3 in Granite City. The suspect car later crashed close to a roundabout at St. Clair Ave and Collinsville Rd. in East St. Louis.  Tillman was the driver of the vehicle.  He was taken to an area hospital with injuries sustained in the subsequent crash.  While taking inventory of the vehicle police found Taylor's body in the trunk of the car.  Authorities determined the murder had taken place at a home in the 2600 block of Logan in Granite City, lived in by Bonner and suffered multiple gunshot wounds.  The maximum penalty for first degree murder is 20-60 years in prison.
