In about two weeks, Alton Fire Chief Greg Bock will hang up his gear with the city. His retirement comes after nearly 24 years with the department, but he plans to continue the teaching aspect of his career, as he has accepted a position with Lewis & Clark Community College. He will take over the job as Associate Director of Safety Programs through the college's Corporate and Community Learning division.

He has been teaching through that division for some time, and has even conducted a class in the past year at ConocoPhillips through the CCL. He says he will miss being a member of the force.

Bock comment

Bock will start with Lewis and Clark on April 16. He will be responsible for the creation and operation of a best-in-class contractor safety orientation facility for businesses and associations within the St. Louis area, with an emphasis on those located within the Lewis and Clark Community College district.
