A meeting of the Alton Electoral Board will be held on Monday with the challenge to Brant Walker's Mayoral bid the focus. Brant Walker's mayoral bid is being challenged by Donald Groshong. A formal challenge was filed, claiming there are delinquent accounts Walker has with the city.
Anyone with delinquent accounts is not allowed to run for public office. City Clerk Mary Boulds is on the board, and says the meeting will be chaired by Senior Alderman Gary Fleming.
Walker says he hopes the public will attend this hearing.
The meeting will be held in the Alton City Council Chambers at 9:30am. Walker was part of a four-man race for the job in the spring of 2009 when long-time Mayor Don Sandidge stepped away from the job. Walker fell about 460 votes short of Tom Hoecht's total of nearly 1,900 votes.
