The Madison County Board has approved a resolution to continue its involvement in the mediation process with the Olin Corporation regarding their tax assessment for past years. The county as already invested nearly 90-thousand dollars in this process and with the resolution; the county expects to spend another 200-thousand dollars to see this process through.
Board Chairman Alan Dunstan says that it is necessary to continue the process.
Dunstan says passed measure also allows the board to use the Edwardsville law firm, Tueth, Keeney, Cooper, Mohan & Jackstadt, as mediations continue. So far an agreement has been reached for the taxes to be assessed from 2002 to 2004, however the taxing bodies and Olin still need to come to a decision on taxes to be assessed between 2005 and 2010.
